What is therapy?
Psychological Therapy is an element of psychology also known as talk therapy or psychotherapy. It is a treatment that helps people deal with emotional difficulties, mental health problems or challenging behaviours. It often involves talking to a trained mental health professional to understand problems, explore thoughts, emotions and behaviours. To learn coping strategies and improve wellbeing. Psychological therapy can be helpful for people experiencing stress, distress, anxiety, depression, trauma, phobias, fr those with relationship issues, for personal development or emotional support. Overall it helps people to heal, grow and cope!
While psychological therapy can involve a counselling approach it is also a little different to counselling in that it specifically uses evidence-based treatment types and often goes a little deeper to understand root causes and change thinking and behaviour patterns over time.
